Well, three actually - Charley, Bernd and myself (Mike S). Tenmen is Charley's 9.45m trimaran (not 9.5m, Marina pls note!). It was used in the making of a film last year.
Tenmen's regular home is in Bitterne, Southampton and first stop was Ryde on the Isle of Wight to take advantage of the sandy beach on which to dry out and replace a defective echo sounder transducer. Job done well before the returning tide and a chance for a swim then fish and chips ashore.
Next day were treated to a display by the Red Arrows, entertaining the crowds come to see America's Cup action in Portsmouth, which is where we headed. Anchored just outside the race area and watched some practice races. Winds were light so speeds were sedate by their standards, a mere 15 Kn or so!
Spot the big cats?
Overnight in Bembridge, IoW, who were hosting a Family Fun Weekend rally. Arrived at low tide and ran aground just outside the marina. Moved in there later and went ashore just as the live music fnished!
Next day, a bigger than expected F4 SW'erly turned up so headed off round the Island and a chance for Tenmen to stretch its legs. Points well for a multilhull and saw up to 10.4Kn on the log.. Some hours and a few tacks later we were passing The Needles. Storming up the The Needles Channel saw us surfing down some big stuff over the shingle banks with MS at the helm grinning like a Cheshire cat.
Squeezed into Lymington for the night and had a pleasant meal and Pimms in the The Ship Inn.
Sunday and fast ferry dodging back to Bitterne.
