There are a number of ways to enliven an account of your cruise or race with photos and other attachments (logs, charts, etc).
1. They can be inserted directly into the report.
How to do this is explained here: Attachments
and here is an example:
America's Cup, Portsmouth
OR, (as the above method has limits to the number and size of photos)
2. Insert an image that you've previously uploaded to a 3rd Party image hosting site, e.g the PCC Flickr account - PCCsailpics (see the Flickr help section on how to do that).
In order to upload the pictures, you will need to login to the PCC Flickr account. The links and password for that are shown in the Members Area of this Forum here:
Flickr
You can of course also insert images from any similar account you may have - Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, etc.
How to insert a link in your report to such pictures is explained here: Image links. This involves obtaining the URL of the image - how to obtain that for Flickr is described on their help page under Get a Direct URL to it For other 3rd party sites, refer to the Help section for that site on how to get the URL and share photos.
Here is an example
Channel Racing
for which the URL is c1.staticflickr.com/5/4443/36740746664_cbaa24f44d_z.jpg
OR,
3. Insert just a link to an image or even a complete album of photos, again that have been previously uploaded to PCCsailpics ,Instagram, etc.
Just click on the link button in the button bar above and fill in the details. Again you need the URL of the image you're linking to.
Here is an example:
Tenmen around the Isle of Wight
for which the URL is
www.dropbox.com/sh/hew9fwbplc6scdj/AAAo3gXfJWMVN1EM4umA3_EMa?dl=0
as can be seen in the address bar at the top of the browser window on the Dropbox page
Some of the above may seem a bit duanting at first but soon becomes straightforward with a bit of practice and the results highly rewarding.
Happy scribbling,
Mike
